Sharif University of Technology (SUT) is one of the largest engineering and physical sciences schools in Iran. The university is located in of Tehran and also has an international campus in Kish, a resort island in the Persian Gulf. Established in 1966, it was formerly named the Aryamehr University of Technology. Today, the university provides both undergraduate and graduate programs in 15 main departments including: Aerospace Engineering, chemical and Petroleum engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management and Economics, Materials science and Engineering, Mathematical Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Languages & Linguistics Center, The Philosophy of Science. The student body consists of about 12 000 students from all the 30 provinces of Iran. In the 2014 Times Higher Education top 100 for newer universities, SUT ranked 1st in the Middle East, 6th in Asia, and 27th in the world.
