Isfahan University of Technology was founded in 1974 as the Isfahan branch of Aryamehr University of Technology before the revolution in Iran and admitted its first students in 1977. It is the third Iranian University to be listed in International rankings. IUT is a state university under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.The university runs four research centers and thirteen departments including: physics, materials engineering, mathematics, mining engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, natural resources, chemical engineering, electrical & computer engineering, textile engineering, and industrial engineering. There are around 10 000 students enrolled in the master’s and doctoral programs.
